Children’s Church

Our Philosophy

Gathered worship is for the entire family but we recognize that it can be hard for little ones to sit still for that long. Children’s church is offered during the sermon and is designed to come alongside parents in their effort to train their children to engage in corporate worship. Children usually sit with their parents during the beginning of the service and then those aged three through seven years are invited to Children’s Church just before the sermon. If you’d prefer for them to stay with you, that’s okay too!

Like the worship service, the children have their own call to worship and prayer. The children enjoy singing and are encouraged to pray aloud. After singing, children listen to a Bible lesson and then gather at tables for an activity related to the lesson. Each lesson in Children’s Church has a twofold purpose: first, to teach the children about God; and second, to teach them to worship God. After the worship service is concluded, parents can pick up their children from the Children’s Church room (down the hallway going past the sanctuary).

Our Curriculum

We use the newly published “Biggest Story” curriculum. Each weekly lesson is designed to teach the kids a story from Scripture as we walk through the whole Bible together. Part of the reason we love this material is because it engages children without oversimplifying rich Biblical truths.

The curriculum is beautifully illustrated and includes crafts, activity sheets, coloring pages, and a short animated video each week. We also include memory verses and deliberately connect each story to God’s overarching Gospel plan. Check out this video or the link below to learn more!
