Youth Ministry Mission Statement
The mission of Evangel’s youth ministry is to engage, equip, and encourage youth toward a lifetime of following Jesus. We do this by partnering with parents (whom God designed to bear the primary responsibility of their children’s discipleship; Deut. 6:6-9; Eph. 6:1-4) and living in community built around God’s means of grace (Heb. 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47).
Youth Group
Youth group meets each Sunday evening during the school year at 6:00 p.m., followed by a church-wide dinner at 7:00 p.m.! We meet in the youth room at the back of the Sanctuary building (behind the stage).
A typical youth group begins with a few minutes of fellowship time as the youth arrive. Sometimes we do an icebreaker activity! Then we usually begin with prayer and sing several songs. Our teaching series often parallels the adult series (in Sunday School or Women’s Bible study) in an effort to encourage families to discuss what they’re learning from God’s Word. We end with a large group game that the kids frequently request to pick back up after we’ve finished dinner!
Please let me (our pastoral assistant, Adam McKinney) know if you have any questions. My wife and I would love to get to know you and your family.
Other Youth Events
Throughout the year our youth will have various social events and hang-outs at people’s homes. The youth are also encouraged to participate in our presbytery’s week-long youth camp each summer! It is a wonderful time of fellowship among the covenant children from the various PCA churches throughout Kansas. Other opportunities for the youth are occasional short-term mission trips, serving in our Vacation Bible School, and participating in church work days or other church-wide events.
